I have now been watching the Cameo on TV since its launch and have purchased one. Hayley on your last TV appearance on Create and Craft you had a swatch of papers and plastics that you said had been cut on the Cameo. Please would you be willing to share the settings that you used for these materials. It would be most helpful to the many crafters who are now using the Cameo.
I have the SD & a Cameo & until I saw your demo I thought it would take ages to start crafting with them, after watching you I now can't wait, THANK YOU xxx
I used to have most of these at one time but for some reason, lost them... I've downloaded (thanks for the tip), but when I lost a lot of stuff on a former laptop, I contacted Silhouette who reset things.. I knew I didn't have as many as I used to and these are the ones that were missing. They reset all those that i'd purchased only probably. Hey ho - all is now well.
Hi Haley i was watching you on create and craft with the cameo and i think you said that you can import a decoupage from a cd i have a lot of cds but everytime i try to import them it says file not supported is this something i am doing wrong i have had my cameo since christmas and to be honest i have done very little with it only gone through 4 blades and 2 mats i am a new crafter and my hubby got it for me at christmas dont no what he was expecting me to do lol every time a cd comes on creat and craft do i buy it i would be great if i could use all the decoupage would be greatfull for any help
I've written a tutorial to help with Die Cut Decoupage.... http://hayley-west.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/silhouette-tutorial-sheets.html
You will need to make sure that the design you're trying to import is in one of the accepted formats.... jpeg or png are the most common. You won't be able to import pdfs. If you only have a pdf then you would need to print the sheet, scan it at high resolution and then save it as a jpeg, which you would then import in.
I'm surprised you've damaged so many blades and mats with minimal cutting. Have you been setting the blade too deep?
thank you hayley for your speedy reply trust me i can kn---er anything so my hubby says lol alot of my cds are from debbie moore is there any way i can convert them to jpeg i am sorry for being a pain but i am still learning i carnt get out much so i depend on all the demonstrations on creat and craft i only started to make cards for christmas my family said they was loverly but it was christmas lol i really want to do this but sometimes its so frustrating but i will definitely keep waching your demos your brilliant thank you so much hayley. xx
Hi Hayley, i have been watching you on C/C and you mentioned that you can save a jpg file from Craft Artist to use as a cutting file on Cameo. Please how do you save a jpg file from Craft Artist, everytime I "save as" in that program it just saves it as a Craft Artist file which is not a jpg and will only open in Craft Artist. Thanks Bren xx
Hi Hayley, I have taken the plunge and bought the cameo. It arrived today :)) I just have one issue. I have gone to the store and spent ages looking for cutting files for projects I have in mind and used my download cards. So far so good but I cannot download them because I need to install Studio on the machine. If I install it on this machine (work PC) can I then transfer them to the PC in my actual studio where I do not have an internet connection? Also where do I enter "original 50" on the silhouette website to access the extra shapes.
Thank you Hayley. Sadly, I will be sending the machine back. Precision cutting it certainly doesn't do - I tried their own designs with their media - followed all settings and it all comes out like a dog's breakfast :( It doesn't even cut the same design twice the same way. All ever so disheartening and frustrating.
Have you spoken to Graphtec, to check all your settings/blade etc are correct. It's not uncommon for New Owners to find the machine tricky to start with but once they're used to it they get some amazing results.
There's also a Facebook Group that's invaluable to New Owners.... UK Silhouette Cameo, it's well worth joining :)
Fabulous Hayley, came across your blog after searching for the best price to buy a Silhouette download card. Just purchased the Portrait at Christmas, loving it. Thank you, Love Jane x
just bought a silhouette in march but having trouble welding tried the demo you did with the scallop and square but it keeps taking the holes out of the scallop HELP please
Hi, I bought a Silhouette Portrait in USA in June this year. Got going with it but I just cannot understand what I am doing wrong - it just makes a dreadful mess of anything a bit more intricate. Please, what am I doing wrong. Rosemary
Hi Hayley. Could you tell me what Doeflex you use for doing the masks. I have bought some but it is very thick, when I was watching you on createandcraft what you showed was thin. Could you tell me where I can get some from.
Due to a change of personal circumstances I've taken the decision to close the shop website. I've sent you an email, which I hope you will have seen by now to confirm that the missing items have been resent.
Hayley I have been thinking about purchasing a Cameo for sometime but have held back. The machines to do so much (and this is probably a silly comment) but does it also emboss card stock? Hazel
Hi just watched you on c/c with the stamping kit but all gone when I got to watch when will there be moor please love your demo s got small machine would love camo but can't afford just yet Julie
hi Haley, I have finally mastered print & cut. I have loads of cds have converted and print & cut the images, I am so delighted. BUT I would normally print onto photo paper and hand cut. now with the cameo I can do this on plain card but not on photo paper/card. Why?print is fine, reads reg marks starts cutting fine then after a few seconds cuts lower than it should messing everything up. as I said cuts perfectly on plain paper. I used different types/coating of photo paper - all same results. I have no problem cutting intricate designs on mirror card. Any advice please I like the glossy look on decoupage. Thanks Marie
Hi Haley, I watch your tv channel and was so impressed I have just bought one. It hasn’t arrived yet. However I am a clock repairer and sometimes need to restore clock dials but im not sure what to use for the numbers or the seconds digits it needs to be very very thin Any ideas Regards Debbie.. Wow! Thanks for that Hayley. Have just added them to my library along with all my other freebies. It really is a fantastic system.
ReplyDeleteThanks Hayley, it just proves you learn something everyday.

Hi Bren
DeleteYou need to export it from Craft Artist and choose jpeg when it asks. Make sure you adjust the settings to ensure you export at 300 dpi
It's OK Hayley I have sorted it with the help of Daisy Trail forum
ReplyDeleteI'm really sorry Bren, I got you confused with someone else. I had a similar enquiry via email and thought it was from you :)

There's a search field in the store, type Original 50 in there. Just make sure the ones you put in your basket are the free ones.

ReplyDeleteHi Hayley, I had problems with the 50 free shapes... went to the website as suggested in the blog but could only find 34 free ones?
